In Addition - Message from CV Middle School Physical Education Teachers:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well! I am writing to inform you about an upcoming fitness testing initiative in our physical education classes, which will include assessments of both health-related and skill-related fitness components.
Health-Related Components:
- Cardiovascular Endurance: This measures how well the heart and lungs supply oxygen to the body during sustained physical activity.
- Muscular Strength: This assesses the maximum amount of force a muscle or group of muscles can exert.
- Muscular Endurance: This evaluates how well a muscle can continue to perform without fatigue.
- Flexibility: This measures the range of motion in joints and is crucial for overall physical performance.
- Body Composition: This refers to the ratio of fat to lean mass in the body, indicating overall health.
Skill-Related Components:
- Agility: This assesses the ability to change direction quickly while maintaining speed.
- Balance: This measures stability and control of the body while stationary or moving.
- Coordination: This evaluates the ability to use different parts of the body together smoothly and efficiently.
- Power: This measures the ability to exert maximum force in a short period, often involving explosive movements.
- Reaction Time: This assesses how quickly an individual can respond to a stimulus.
The Importance of Staying Active: Regular physical activity is vital for maintaining good health, improving mood, and enhancing overall well-being. Engaging in physical activities can lead to improved academic performance, better sleep, and increased self-esteem. We encourage families to be active together—whether it’s through sports, outdoor activities, or simple walks— to instill a love for movement in our children.
We appreciate your support as we work to promote fitness and health within our school community. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like more information about our fitness testing program.
Thank you for your continued partnership!
Warm regards,
CV Middle School PE Staff (Mr. Berg and Mr. Plourde)
