Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration Information

Universal Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) & Kindergarten Registration

We are excited to welcome our newest learners and families to the Chenango Valley Central School District!

Pre-K and kindergarten registration will take place by appointment this spring. Please review the information below to help you prepare for your child’s registration and ensure you have everything you need.

Registration is ongoing. The Pre-K program offers half-day and full-day options, based on availability.

Information Nights

Information Nights are held at Port Dickinson Elementary School.

Pre-K Information Night

Tuesday, April 14, 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Kindergarten Information Night

Tuesday, April 28, 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Pre-K Registration

  • Dates: Tuesday, April 21 & Wednesday, April 22
  • Time: 8:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Location: Port Dickinson Elementary School
  • Pre-K registration appointments are approximately 15 minutes each.

Kindergarten Registration

  • Dates: Tuesday, May 12 & Wednesday, May 13
  • Time: 8:40 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Location: Port Dickinson Elementary School
  • Kindergarten registration appointments are approximately 20 minutes each.
  • Students enrolled in pre-K at Port Dickinson Elementary for the 2025-26 school year will automatically be registered for kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year.

Required Registration Documents

Please bring the following documents to your child’s registration appointment:

  • Student’s original birth certificate
  • Two proofs of residency
  • Parent/guardian photo ID
  • Current immunization record
  • Custody paperwork, if applicable

Eligibility Requirements

  • Pre-K: Children must turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2026
    • Students registering for pre-K must be residents of the Chenango Valley Central School District. (There is no tuition for pre-K.)
  • Kindergarten: Children must turn 5 years old on or before December 1, 2026

Is My Child Ready for Pre-K?

Children develop at their own pace, and no child is expected to have every skill mastered before starting Pre-K. Readiness is less about academics and more about feeling comfortable separating from a caregiver, communicating basic needs, and being willing to try new things. These skills continue to grow with time, practice, and support.
