Social Work Services

What are Social Work Services?

School social workers play an important role in supporting students’ academic success and overall well-being. At Chenango Valley, our social workers collaborate with students, families, staff, and community partners to help create a positive, supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Social work services focus on strengthening students’ social, emotional, and behavioral skills while supporting a sense of belonging, confidence, and connection within the school community.

How School Social Workers Support Students

School social workers may assist with:

  • Individual or small-group counseling
  • Social-emotional skill development
  • Support with school adjustment, attendance, and transitions
  • Crisis support and conflict resolution
  • Collaboration with families and caregivers
  • Connecting students and families with community resources
  • Consultation and support for teachers and staff

Working Together

School social workers are part of interdisciplinary teams and work closely with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and outside agencies to support students both in and out of school.
