Introducing the Stopfinder App

Stopfinder is the all-in-one, easy-to-use app for viewing and sharing your student’s transportation schedule.

What the App Can Do
  • View your student’s daily transportation assignments – including transfer trips and stops
  •  Securely share your student’s schedule with caregivers
  • Receive notifications and updates related to transportation
  • Send real-time vehicle location notifications based on GeoAlert regions you create for your student
  • Send private messages to the Chenango Valley Transportation Department
  • Send Estimated Time of Arrival notifications based on your student’s stop
Install the App
  • To install the app, you will need to follow the instructions that will be provided in an email communication from the Chenango Valley Transportation Department in late August 2024.
Access Student Schedules
  • Access to student schedules is granted only to the student’s designated contact by the Transportation Department. The Stopfinder contacts, at their own discretion, may share their student’s schedule with additional caregivers (sub-subscribers). An invitation to activate your Stopfinder account will be sent in an email communication from the Chenango Valley Transportation Department in late August 2024.

At the start of the 2024-2025 school year, the district will continue to send opt-in mass transportation email/text alerts for significant bus delays, while also using Stopfinder for transportation communications. We will gradually phase out the mass email/text alerts for transportation as families transition to Stopfinder. The existing opt-in email/text notification system will still be used for winter weather closings and other important updates as needed.

Transportation Requests/Changes


Form Icon
A Transportation Request/Change Form should be submitted to the transportation department for all students so the department can update transportation records for the school year. This form can also be used throughout the school year as changes occur. You will be notified by mail of your child’s bus information prior to the first day of school. TRANSPORTATION REQUEST/CHANGE FORM: CLICK HERE
*This form must be completed and submitted to the CV Transportation Department within five school days prior to change taking effect.
 
  • For permanent transportation changes - Please submit the Transportation Change/Request Form above to the CV Transportation Department. This form must be completed and submitted at least five school days before the change takes effect. You can find the form on the district website, at the transportation office, or in the main office of your child’s school building. 
  • For temporary transportation changes - Call your child’s school as soon as possible but no later than 3:00 PM on the school day before the change is needed. For temporary changes occurring on a Monday, please call by the previous Friday (or the last school day before the weekend).
  • For day-of emergency transportation changes - ll your child’s school as soon as possible but no later than 10:30 AM on full days or 9:30 AM on half days. 
    • If you cannot call before these times, a designated individual must pick up the student either at school before dismissal or from their normal bus stop.

Bus Stop Pick-Ups/Drop-Offs


  • To ensure safe transportation, each student may only have pick-up and drop-off locations at home or a childcare site within the school district’s boundaries.
  • **Drop-off update - Earliest drop-off times for caregivers on regular school days during the 2024-2025 school year:
    • CV Middle/High School Earliest Drop-Off Time: 7:20 AM
    • PD/CB Elementary Earliest Drop-Off Time: 8:20 AM

2024-2025 Regular School Day Hours for Students
  • Port Dickinson Elementary: 8:40 AM - 3:15 PM (Dismissal process starts at 3:05 PM for pick-ups.) 
    • Half-Day Pre-K: 8:40 AM - 11:20 AM
  • Chenango Bridge Elementary: 8:40 AM - 3:15 PM (Dismissal process starts at 3:05 PM for walkers/pick-ups.) 
  • CV Middle/High School: 7:42 AM - 2:20 PM (Remedial period until 3:00 PM, Monday - Thursday.)

2024-2025 Routing Information


Before the 2024-2025 school year begins, transportation routing information will be sent via both physical mail and email. You will receive your usual transportation card in the mail, and it will also be emailed to you through the routing software.

Route Changes in First Few Weeks of School


For the first few weeks of school, bus routes may be adjusted as we finalize transportation requests. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation. To stay updated on changes in real-time, please use the Stopfinder app.

Emergency School Closings

Occasionally, school buildings may have to close before regular dismissal times due to an emergency or weather-related matter. Please be certain your child understands what to do under such circumstances.

Bus Safety Rules


Waiting for the Bus
• Be ready at your pick-up location five minutes before your scheduled pick-up time.
• While waiting, stay away from the road and pay attention to your surroundings. Don’t move towards the bus until it is completely stopped and the driver gives the signal to leave the curb.

Getting on the Bus
• Get on the bus one at a time and use the handrail.
• Find a seat and sit down immediately.
• Don’t carry large or sharp objects. Keep loose items inside your backpack. Items that do not fit on the bus seat, or take another child’s seat, will not be permitted. Additional items that are not permitted include skateboards, large musical instruments, and boom boxes or speakers.

Riding the Bus
• Don’t disturb the driver. Be respectful, courteous and quiet.
• Follow the driver’s and monitor’s instructions.
• Do not put head, arms or other objects outside window.
• Keep the bus aisles clear of objects.
• Stay in your seat until the bus stops.

Getting off the Bus
• Once you’re off the bus, walk ten giant steps away from the front of the bus if you have to cross the street. Be sure you can see the driver, and cross in front of the bus only when the driver signals that it is safe.
• Cross to the middle of the road and check to be sure all traffic is stopped. Look left, look right and look left again.
• If you drop something while getting on or off the bus, ask the driver or bus monitor to help.

Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton - Fun Club


  • Run by the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, Fun Club is a before-and-after-school childcare program designed to help accommodate the schedules of caregivers.
  • Students can be dropped off or picked up at the designated CV elementary school where Fun Club is being held. 
  • Please note there is a cost to participate in the program. For information on registration and availability, visit www.bgcbinghamton.org/fun-clubs or call 607-203-1266.

The School Bus Stop-Arm Safety Program


The School Bus Stop-Arm Safety Program aims to keep children safe when they get on and off the school bus and cross the road. The goal of the program is to reduce violations and injuries caused by people who ignore the school bus stop arm.
