The Chenango Valley Music Program offers a variety of opportunities to stimulate and develop musical interest and ability. Students may participate in chorus beginning in fourth grade. Beginning in the fifth grade, students may elect to take lessons in a musical instrument and participate in band.
At the middle school and high school level, a more intensive course of instrument/ choral study is available, as well as numerous performance groups; including Mixed Choir, Girls’ Choir, Band and Jazz Band. Each group performs two public concerts per year, and often participates in the annual New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Major Organization Festival. Groups also participate in Music In Our Schools events. Students are provided opportunities to participate in NYSSMA solo festivals and Broome County Music Educators’ Association festivals.
Each year, our music programs receive tremendous support from The BaCh organization, through fundraisers, as well as a musical instrument recycling program.
