Update from Dr. Gill (9-22-2022)

September 22, 2022

Good Afternoon Chenango Valley Families,

To start, I would like to share my gratitude for our transportation team, including our drivers and monitors, and their dedication to safely transport students to and from school each day. In addition, I would like to thank our families for your patience regarding recent transportation pick-up and drop-off delays. Please know that we have implemented a number of plans to address the regional and nationwide bus driver shortage. The Chenango Valley Central School District has begun the school year with enough drivers to cover each route. Unfortunately, a high number of driver absences due to illness have caused the district to need to combine and adjust routes, at times creating substantial pick-up/drop-off delays. We believe this is a temporary issue, but wanted to make sure our families were aware of the situation at hand. Our goal is to minimize the impact of any transportation delays. Each building has plans for breakfast and missed instruction for those students who arrive late.

We will continue to provide any updates as needed and ask our families to please make sure they are signed up for transportation alerts through our “Opt-In Alert System” (https://www.cvcsd.stier.org/PortalLogin.aspx).

We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any frustration and inconvenience this has caused.

Sincerely,
Dr. David P. Gill
Superintendent of Schools
