Grades 3-8 ELA Testing Update (4-9-2025)

April 9, 2025

Good afternoon,

I hope that your Wednesday has gone well.  As you may know, NYS schools again experienced addition log-in challenges onto the Grades 3-8 ELA testing platform today, and Chenango Valley was no exception.  As our MS start time is earlier than Chenango Bridge and they started testing earlier, we were able to encounter log-in issues by 8:00am. Anticipating another day of platform failures, we decided to postpone Chenango Bridge testing until tomorrow so as not to have our Grades 3-5 students experience another interrupted day due to these state-wide problems.

Most MS students were able to log-in after a 15-minute pause and continue testing to complete Day 1. Some students were not able to do so, however.

The NYS Education Department has assured school districts that they are working with the testing vendor to ensure the platform is operational. We will resume testing at CV Middle School tomorrow, and Chenango Bridge will begin testing tomorrow, Thursday, April 10th and finish on Friday, April 11th.  Both schools will conduct make-ups into next week.

Our CV has been working with the Broome-Tioga BOCES Regional Information Center, which manages IT for schools throughout our region, and with NYSED to ensure that we are communicated the most up-to-date information that we have.  Thank you for your patience with us.  I have children who have been impacted by this state-wide issue as well, and I know it is frustrating as a parent to help prepare your child for their NYS test, and then have that test not happen - not once, but now twice in the same week.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Dr. Larry Dake
Superintendent of Schools
