Update from Principal Ostrander 10-2-2022

Good morning high school families!

I wanted to share some important information for the week:

1. Homecoming: Our homecoming festivities begin this week! We will start our week tomorrow (Monday) with a themed spirit week. Monday will be Pajama Day, Tuesday is Tee Time Tuesday, Wednesday is Wild West Wednesday, Thursday is Tourist Thursday, and Friday is Spirit Wear Color Day (9: White 10: Grey 11: Red 12: Black) - grade levels will accumulate points for participating and will culminate in our Pep Rally on Friday morning.

Our pep rally will incorporate games where grade levels will compete, our cheerleaders will perform, we'll feature our fall athletic teams, and our pep band will be performing! It will be a great event for our high school students!

Friday night is the varsity football game at 7 p.m. (against Forks!) and our dance will be on Saturday from 7-10 in the gym.
Information regarding homecoming dance: tickets will be on sale this week during the lunch periods. They are $15. If any student would like to bring an outside guest, those forms are located in the main office and are due this week. No students will be permitted to purchase tickets at the door and all outside guests must have a form turned into the main office ahead of time.

2. Early Dismissal: Our early dismissal drill will be Thursday, October 6. We will dismiss 15 minutes early. Please plan accordingly.

3. Friday 1/2 day: Friday, October 7, will be a 1/2 day for all Chenango Valley students. The CV Middle School/High School will begin dismissing at 11:20 a.m.

4. No school on Monday, October 10: A reminder that there is no school on Monday, October 10, for Columbus Day. Have a great long weekend!

5. Due to the 1/2 day on Friday all CTE BOCES students will NOT attend BOCES on that day. I will communicate this with the BOCES staff so they are aware that the absence is excused. If your child would prefer to attend BOCES and be excused from the pep rally, you will need to transport your child to/from BOCES. Please let me know or have your child stop by the main office to alert us if you choose to have your child attend BOCES.

6. The end of the 5 week marking period will be this week. Progress reports will be handed out next Wednesday at the end of the day to all students. As always, if you are concerned over your child's grades, please reach out to the teacher for more information. They have the most accurate and up to date information.

As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.  I welcome your feedback!

Thank you,
Jennifer Ostrander
