CV High School Update (9-16-2024)

Good Morning CV High School Families,

Welcome to a new week here at the high school!  This week’s P2 trait is curiosity—a great trait for science class!

Please see below for a few reminders:
  • Dismissals: it is important that when your child is leaving school that we have an adult come into security to sign them out.  If they drive, please make sure our security office is aware and students must sign out. The phone number is 607-762-6931.  If they are going home sick, please call the nurse’s office at 607-762-6912 to make them aware.  We are seeing students just walking out of the building and we want to make sure we account for all students throughout the day.  Thank you for your help with this!
  • Open House: is coming up Wednesday, Sept 25, from 6-7:30 p.m.  We want to have a great turnout—this is a great night to:
    1. Meet our teachers and staff—they can share what is happening in their classrooms!
    1. See our new spaces: check out FACS, Art, Tech spaces!
    1. Clubs: check out the clubs that we offer here at the high school
    1. Check in with transportation and tech: Representatives from our transportation and tech departments will be on hand for any questions you may have.
I HIGHLY recommend you come by—we want to have a positive connection with our families and caregivers and would love to meet and chat with you.  I hope to see you here!
  • Chenango Valley Middle School and High School will be conducting routine evacuation drills this fall.  We do NOT have any scheduled drills this week. This is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that students and staff are well-prepared in the event of an emergency. Please know that students will be informed that this is only a drill and not an actual emergency. Please refer to the update from Dr. Dake that was sent to all families on 9/6/24 for more information. That update can be found here: Notification Process for Annual Safety Drills (2024-2025 School Year) (stier.org) Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and secure school environment.
I’d like to thank you for prioritizing attendance—We continue to have 95% attendance—we are now in the swing of things!

Let’s keep that momentum going!

Reach out with anything you may need—we are here to help.
Thank you,
Jennifer Ostrander
