Message from Principal Ostrander 9-25-2022

Hello High School Families and welcome to a new week! Please see below for important high school information:

Positivity Project (P2) trait of the week: The trait for this week is teamwork. We will be working together as a high school to spread positive messages of encouragement!

Events:

High School Open House - HS Open House 2022: Our open house is on Thursday, 9/29, from 6-7:30 pm. Please stop in to meet your child’s teachers and learn more about the classes they are enrolled in!  We will also have HS club information and refreshments in our auditorium hallway. Our guidance team will be available in the guidance office to answer any questions you may have. We are not following a set schedule, so feel free to stop anytime between 6-7:30. It will be helpful if your child writes out their schedule and the room numbers so you can easily make your way to each of the classrooms. We hope you are able to come!

Attendance stats: Here are the attendance percentages for the week of 9/18/22: 9th: 85.6%, 10th: 90.5%, 11th: 85.1%, 12th: 90.5% Overall: 88.0%

A reminder that if your child is sick to please call our attendance office at 607-762-6931 to excuse them from school. If your child is struggling to come to school regularly, please call our guidance office to speak to your child’s counselor.

*Please note: Beginning 9/26/22, we will be making automated calls when your child is absent from school.  The CV Middle School/High School calls will be around 8:45 a.m.  You must call before 8 a.m. (or leave a voicemail) to avoid the phone call.

Important Information/Reminders:
  • Homecoming Dance information: Our homecoming dance will be on October 8th from 7-10 p.m. at CV High school. All students grades 9-12 will be permitted at the dance. The cost will be $15 per ticket and tickets WILL ONLY be sold during school hours (during the lunch periods). NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR. Tickets will be on sale beginning later this week. We also permit students to bring one outside guest if they choose. Those tickets must also be purchased during time tickets are being sold. Anyone that would like to bring an outside guest must have a guest form turned in to the main office by October 2. Those forms will be available in the main office beginning tomorrow (September 26). Please reach out with any questions.
  • As we enter the third week of school, please check Parent Portal to keep up with your child’s academic progress. If you are concerned about your child’s grades, please reach out to the teacher. Our teachers will also be reaching out with concerns. We are a team and all need to work together to help your child to feel success!
  • Please remind your child of the Board of Education’s dress code as part of the Code of Conduct. Headwear (hats/hoods) are not permitted in school and extremely brief garments (including tank tops with spaghetti straps or open sides-also known as cut outs) are not allowed.
  • 10th and 11th grade families: Please see the attached flyer from Jostens to order a class ring - Class Ring Flyer
Thank you for your continued support to make our high school the very best it can be! I hope to see you on Thursday at our open house. I’ll be around the building, please stop to say hello!

Thank you,
Jennifer Ostrander
