Message from Principal Ostrander 12-4-2022

Hello High School Families and welcome to a new week!  Please see below for important high school information:

Positivity Project (P2) trait of the week: The trait for this week is Helping others when they struggle.  This is an important message that we try to review often with students—everyone is going through something and being kind and helpful will help us all!

Events: Upcoming HS events—mark your calendars!

  • Dec 9: ½ day K-12 (11:20 HS dismissal)

  • Dec 15: HS Winter Concert: 6:30 Auditorium

  • Dec 16: End of the 5 week mark for the quarter

  • Dec 23-Jan 2: Winter recess

Attendance stats: We continue to track our daily attendance and keep everyone informed because it’s an important message—good daily attendance is the biggest indicator of student success!  If your child is in school and attending class, we will get them through high school successfully!  If your child must stay home sick, please call our attendance office to report it.  We have many unexcused absences and that means we are not sure if they are home sick or just not attending—calling them in will help us to track attendance more accurately.  Thank you for your help with this!

Attendance so far for the marking period: (a reminder that my goal is 93%)

  • 9th: 93%

  • 10th: 91.2%

  • 11th: 89.6%

  • 12th: 90%

  • Overall: 91.1%

Important Information/Reminders:

  • A reminder that although breakfast for all students is free, lunch is not. We have some students that owe on their account. Please consider filling out the free/reduced order form for your child’s account.

  • Please continue to remind your child that cell phones are not permitted during instruction. This also includes earbuds being worn in class. You are always welcome to call the main office at 607-762-6900 if you need to relay a message to your child during the school day.

  • ½ days and BOCES students:
    • If your child attends an AM CTE BOCES program, they can attend BOCES on our ½ days. They will be excused from their CV classes. If they choose to stay behind to attend their CV classes instead, they will be supervised during the periods they would be at BOCES.
    • If your child attends a PM CTE BOCES program, they do not attend on the ½ days (unless they can provide their own transportation to and from BOCES on those days).
    • Full day BOCES students would still attend for the entire day.

I hope you all have a great week—reach out for anything you may need!
