Message from Principal Ostrander 11-20-2022

Hello High School Families and welcome to a new week!  Please see below for important high school information:

Positivity Project (P2) trait of the week: The trait for this week is carried over from last week: Gratitude. Last week, we filled out turkey feathers with something we are grateful for. It’s helpful to frequently reflect on the good in our lives, especially when things seem bleak! I’m grateful for many things - my family and friends, our CV community, and I’m grateful that I found my passion in life: education. I hope you are able to find a few reflections of your own!

Events: Upcoming HS events—mark your calendars!
  • Nov 23-27: Thanksgiving recess
  • Dec 9: ½ day K-12 (11:20 HS dismissal)
  • Dec 15: HS Winter Concert: 6:30 Auditorium
  • Dec 16: End of the 5 week mark for the quarter
  • Dec 23-Jan 2: Winter recess

Attendance stats: Attendance for the month of November is at 90% right now.  I know there are illnesses going around, so if your child is ill, they should remain home, but please remember to call our attendance office to report that they will not be in school.  We are seeing an increase in the number of students arriving late to school—please remind your child that school begins promptly at 7:42. If you drop your child off in the morning, a reminder that the student lot out back is the drop off point for the high school.  If your child drives to school and is consistently late, their driving privileges may be revoked.

Important Information/Reminders:
  • Report cards were delivered home by students last Thursday. If you did not see your child’s report card, please call our guidance office and we can email a copy to you or send one home. If you have any questions regarding grades, please contact your child’s teacher to get more information. If you’d like to request a parent conference to meet with your child’s counselor and teacher, please call or email the guidance office-we are happy to meet!
  • Yearbook/Senior Information:
  • FYI: there is no 10th period or Warrior+ (3:00-5:30 school) on Tuesday.
  • Speaking of Warrior+, did you know that in addition to 10th period, we have an after-school school? Warrior+ takes place in the library Monday-Thursdays from 3-5:30 p.m. We have 2 teachers each night that work with students during this time. Students may attend Warrior+ if they want a quiet place to get homework done, if they need extra help and would prefer 1:1 assistance, or to catch up on ‘old’ work because they were out for an extended period of time. If you are interested in having your child attend Warrior+, please contact your child’s school counselor for more information!  *We do NOT provide transportation home from Warrior+*
  • ½ days and BOCES students:
    • If your child attends an AM CTE BOCES program, they can attend BOCES on our ½ days. They will be excused from their CV classes. If they choose to stay behind to attend their CV classes instead, they will be supervised during the periods they would be at BOCES.
    • If your child attends a PM CTE BOCES program, they do not attend on the ½ days (unless they can provide their own transportation to and from BOCES on those days).
    • Full-day BOCES students would still attend for the entire day.
I sincerely hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving break. As always, please reach out with any questions you may have.
