High School Update 9-15-2023

Good morning, High School Families!

I wanted to share how wonderful the start of the school year is here at the high school! I’ve reviewed the “Respect Document” with all the students in our meetings and kids and adults are internalizing the importance of respect for themselves and others!

I also wanted to celebrate our attendance! Last year, our daily attendance during this time of year was 92% and this year it is 97%! Thank you for prioritizing coming to school with your child!

In addition, we are seeing students in class more often and not in hallways and bathrooms. We’ve decreased our missed classes by 65%!

I’m so proud of the students, staff, and families here at CVHS! Working together as a team works! Let’s keep the momentum going!

In addition to the good start, we also have Homecoming coming up next week. We will have a spirit week starting Monday - Themes for each day: Click Here. We’ll also have a pep rally during the school day and a football game at 7 p.m. next Friday, 9/22.

On Saturday, 9/23, we will have our Homecoming dance in the gym. The dance will be from 7-10 p.m. There is another event on campus that evening, but students can either park in the gym lot or the front lot. We ask that students get dropped off for the dance in the front lot and students can walk to the gym entrance. Tickets for the dance are $15 and will be on sale starting on Tuesday. If your child would like to bring an outside guest, those forms are due to me by next Thursday. Forms can be found in the main office.

Lastly, for our SENIOR families: The Senior Breakfast will be on September 30 (DATE CHANGE). A letter was handed out yesterday during a senior meeting. A copy of the letter is also attached to the email. Hope to see you at the breakfast!

I hope your child is coming home and expressing a positive start to the school year. I’d love to hear from you on how they are feeling! Open communication is key to success!

Thank you very much,
Jennifer Ostrander
High School Principal
