Message from Principal Ostrander Regarding Ninth Grade Orientation (8-20-21)

Hello 9th grade families and happy Friday!
I hope everyone is having a great summer--I can't believe school is starting in a few short weeks!
I just wanted to remind everyone of our 9th grade orientation on Tuesday night, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Below are a few notes about the event:

1. Masks will be required for all attending.  Masks must be worn at all times while inside the building.  If you do not have a mask, we can provide you with one.

2. Your child will receive their schedule at orientation.  Their locker information will be on their schedule as well.  Your child will have an opportunity to walk their schedule and visit their locker during orientation.  We will have high school students and staff on hand to assist them (and introduce themselves!)  A reminder that their schedule may have minor changes between Tuesday and the first day--they will receive another copy on the first day of school in homeroom.

3. Please enter through the auditorium doors.  This will help streamline handing out schedules as families enter.

4. A brief outline for the evening is as follows: 6:00 all students and families in the auditorium for a brief presentation and introductory information about the high school.   Approx 6:30: Students and staff are released from the auditorium where students can walk their schedules, find rooms, and find and try their locker.  They can also drop any items off in their locker if they choose.  As students are out and about, I will present to parents on ways to help their child to be successful in high school.  Approx 7:00: Orientation is over and students and parents are re-united.

5: There will be an opportunity at the end for you and your child to ask any questions to me, Mrs. Lally (their school counselor), or any of the teachers present.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday night!  If for some reason you can't make it to orientation and would like your child to come and walk their schedule and go to their locker, certainly reach out to Mrs. Lally ( [email protected] ) to make arrangements.

Thank you,
Jennifer Ostrander
High School Principal
