2010-2011 Public Budget Document

2010-2011 Board of Education Adopted Budget Proposal April 19, 2010

APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT

The Education Law requires all school districts provide absentee ballots for election of Board of Education members, adoption of the annual budget and referendums. Eligible voters may request an absentee ballot by contacting Susan M. Cirba, School District Clerk at (607) 762-6812.

The application must be received by the clerk at least seven days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the application must be received by the day before the vote, if the ballot is to be personally delivered. The application must be completed and returned, and the individual must verify that he/she meets all voting requirements and explain the reason for his/her inability to appear in person to vote. If you have any questions, please call the district clerk at (607) 762-6812.

ELIGIBLE ABSENCES

  1. hospitalization, illness or physical disability that precludes voter from appearing at polling place;
  2. duties, occupation, business, or studies require voter to be out of country or city of residence on day of vote;
  3. vacation outside country or city of residence on day of vote; or
  4. detained in jail awaiting action by grand jury or a trial, or confined in prision after conviction of an offense other than a felony.

The district shall automatically mail absentee ballots to voters listed as "permanently disabled" on Board of Elections registration lists.

PROOF OF RESIDENCE

Voters will be required to display proof of residency at all School Board Member Votes and Budget Votes. The CV Board of Education deemed the following forms of identification acceptable as proof of residency: New York State driver's license, sheriff's identification card, senior citizen identification card, or a utility bill that indicates district residency.

This procedure ensures that all voters are residents of the school district at the time of the vote.
