Message from Mr. Chase 3-28-2023

Dear Port Dickinson Elementary Families,

As the weather improves, classes will be enjoying field trips throughout the area to enhance learning and social skills, so watch for those notices to come home. On April 3, the second grades will visit Cooper Hill Maple in Moravia to learn about the production of maple syrup - a favorite on pancakes.

The last day of classes before spring break is April 6, which is quickly creeping up on us.

April 1: CV Community Egg Hunt:  The CV High School Travel Club is hosting a Community Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the CV High School Stadium (in the event of inclement weather it will be held in the high school gym). The egg hunt is free to the public for children up to fifth grade. There will also be concessions for sale as well as a $5 wristband for purchase that allows children to participate in all games, arts and crafts, and other activities.

Wild West PTA Event: Saturday, April 1, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. - open to all Port Dickinson and Chenango Bridge students. (Reminder, leave any toy weapons at home!) More Information: Click Here

From our school nurse: We are continuing to see many cases of the stomach bug throughout the building. If your child comes down with vomiting or diarrhea, remember that hydration can be the most important tool you have to keep your child ‘s case from getting very serious. Popsicles, jello or small sips of drinks can help to keep your child hydrated while they are not able to keep much else in their system. As a reminder, per our school illness policy, please keep your child home for at least 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.

P2 Word of the Week: Humor – Humor means you like to laugh and bring smiles to other people.  Click here for more information about this week’s word: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YCj-vVO0MgddQwtzH_BRr5r4AdEWUqUHpEuh4uLr0Bk/edit

Each week just gets better and better as I become acquainted with the students and staff, as well as parents here at Port Dickinson. It’s a great elementary school for your children.
