Message from Mr. Chase 1-26-2023

Dear Port Dickinson Elementary Families,

Reminder: Friday, January 27, is a half-day. Dismissal starts at 12:05 p.m.

Our hallways are loaded with student projects that reflect the holidays and classroom projects. Some of the displays include My New Year’s Resolution, I have a Dream, Sweater Weather, Snowstorm in the Forest and How do Bears prepare for Hibernation.

Classes are getting close to finishing up benchmark evaluations that will help us design instruction as we move into semester 2.

Our P2 word of the week is Social Intelligence.  Click here for information on this week’s word: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C09rjDr2X9-5WDE7eZ7S75JGOanFigh2DfMMuNMAl6s/edit

On Wednesday, we had an unexpected fire drill due to some smoke in the kitchen. Our fire department responded very quickly the students were not outside very long. The students and staff evacuated the entire school quickly and efficiently.

want to stress again for you to have a conversation with your children to report to staff any incident that creates a problem for them. The sooner we know what is happening the quicker we can address the situation.  I am enjoying getting to know your children; all brand new personalities and smiling faces for me to meet.

For families that still would like to get Chenango Valley District notification for inclement weather delays or closings visit: www.cvcsd.stier.org and select register for school closing/alert messages. Follow the cues to finish registering.

Respectfully,
Rick E. Chase
Interim Principal
