On the Ballot
Chenango Valley residents will vote on a single referendum proposing the expenditure of $19,574,000 for a capital improvement project.
Who Can Vote?
To vote, you must be 18 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen, and a resident of the school district for at least 30 days preceding the special election. Proof of residency is required: NYS driver’s license, sheriff’s ID card, senior citizen ID card or utility bill indicating residency.
Absentee Ballots
Applications for absentee ballots may be obtained through District Clerk Lisa Petrylak, 607-762-6810. Voters must verify eligibility and provide an eligible reason for the inability to vote in person. Any such application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the date of the vote if the ballot application is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the vote, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by 5:00 p.m. on date of election in the office of the District Clerk.
The district will automatically mail absentee ballots to voters listed as “permanently disabled” on the Board of Elections’ registration list. For more information on absentee ballots, contact District Clerk Lisa Petrylak, 607-762-6810.
Bond Proposition
Shall the following resolution be adopted, to wit:
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Chenango Valley Central School District, Broome County, New York, is hereby authorized to construct improvements to and reconstruct the Middle School/High School and other School District buildings and facilities, including site improvements, original furnishings, equipment, machinery, appurtenances, apparatus, and incidental improvements and expenses in connection therewith, at a maximum estimated cost of $19,574,000 and to expend $2,000,000 from the Building Capital Reserve Fund therefor and the remaining $17,574,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of said School District and collected in annual installments as provided by Section 416 of the Education Law, and in anticipation of such tax, obligations of said School District shall be issued.
