Message from Principal Hammond (9-16-21)

9/16/2021

Hello to everyone!

We are nearing the end of the first full week of school. It really has been a fantastic start to school and it warms my heart to see your kids' smiling faces each day.

There are a few updates I would like to share with you:

1) Yellow notes (yellow note pad) will be coming home with your child in the next few days. You are able to use this to communicate with us about appointments, absences, or early pick ups from school. If you run out during the school year, we will gladly send a new one home with your child.

2) We are having our annual "Open House" at Port Dickinson on Thursday, September 23, 2021. There will be an opportunity for you to come school with your child to visit the classroom. If you wish, there will also be an opportunity to ZOOM with your child's teacher. You will be receiving more details on a flyer that will be shared with your through your child's Seesaw account.  Our time frames are divided as follows: 6:00-6:30 PM for Pre-K and Kindergarten; 6:30-7:00 PM for first grade; and 7:00-7:30 PM for 2nd grade. You will also be able to visit all related services, special education, ELL, AIS, and special area teachers during the time frame of 6:15-6:45 PM. Masks and social distancing will be necessary for everyone's safety.

3) Next week at CV, we will be having a districtwide "Spirit Week"! This will include all students in grades Pre-K -12. There will be a flyer for everyone sent through Seesaw on Friday with all of the details. We hope it is a wonderful week for everyone.

4) A reminder that if your child is quarantined by they Broome County Health Department, you will receive communication from me via a phone call. You will also hear from your child's classroom teacher with their ZOOM code for their work. Your children will also be completing activities in Seesaw as a part of this instruction.

We are so lucky to have every one of your children in our school district.
If you have questions about anything, please always reach out to us.

Have a great weekend ahead and Happy (almost) Friday!!
-Mrs. Hammond
