GreenIT

What we're doing in the IT department to contribute to a greener world… reduce, reuse, recycle.

Recycle
-Recycling of hardware equipment that has outlived its useful life is properly recycled.
-Printer cartridge recycled for discounted prices on new cartridges or for points towards free hardware and software.

In fact, if you want to recycle YOUR toner cartridges and help us to earn free equipment.

  • This recycling program provides an opportunity for organizations and their communities to save empty laser and inkjet cartridges in exchange for over 7000 free hardware and software technology products
  • Interested community partners can register online at FundingFactory. Chenango Valley Central School District's ID number is 15695.
  • To learn more about supporting CVCSD, please contact Sarah Latimer at (607) 762-6820 or email[email protected]. For more information on FundingFactory, call Toll-Free 1-888-883-8237.
Reduce
-Monitors go into sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity.
-Server Virtualization - The majority of servers have been virtualized, rather than replacing servers or implementing new ones, virtualization allows you to have one or two larger servers that do all the work of the previous ones (basically, it's running as multiple servers). This also allows reconfiguration on the fly in the event of changing demands.
-Printer usage - most copiers are now also printers and are on our network. This allows for secure printing and eliminates inadvertent printing (you must go to the copier and pull up your mailbox to print).
-Most printers and copiers in the district allow double-sided printing resulting in reduced paper costs.

Reuse
-Reuse of hardware - We belong to a state program that pairs state agencies with schools so equipment no longer of use to an agency can be reused in a school.
