Port Dickinson Elementary School students participate in art, library, music, physical education, and computers weekly. Our English Language Arts and Mathematics programs provide our staff the tools needed to teach all students at varied ability levels. Our school has a core reading and mathematics series which is aligned with New York State Learning Standards. We also offer programs to support the various strengths and needs of our student population. These include reading support, math support, Academic Intervention Services (AIS), and Accelerated Reader.
At Port Dickinson, we believe it is important for our students to start their day with breakfast so they may reach their peek performance level. Our cafeteria staff provides a complete breakfast program for all our students.
Our staff also believes it is important to develop our students' social and emotional well-being. Port Dickinson takes part in the districtwide character strength education program called "The Positivity Project" or "P2." Our school psychologist, guidance counselor and social worker are also pivotal in assisting our students.
We also offer a variety of opportunities for parents/guardians that enable them to be part of their child's success in school. Our Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) is a wonderful way to network and share ideas to promote events and programs such as dances, movie nights, Reading Promise, and author visits. Please call our school for more information at (607) 762-6970.
