Kopernik Assemblies Shed Light on Solar Eclipse

The Kopernik Observatory & Science Center recently provided a series of engaging assemblies for pre-K through grade 8 students across Chenango Valley, focusing on the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8.

The series kicked off at Chenango Valley Middle School on March 19, where students learned about the science behind the eclipse and how to watch it safely. The excitement continued on March 20 at Port Dickinson Elementary, where the youngest students discovered the wonders of the eclipse and learned about safe viewing practices. The series concluded at Chenango Bridge Elementary on March 21, with grades 3-5 also exploring the eclipse's scientific background.

A big thank you to Kopernik for making science so fun and preparing our students to safely enjoy this rare event!

Following these enriching assemblies, the schools will provide solar eclipse safety viewing glasses to all pre-K through grade 8 students on the day of the eclipse.

As a reminder, there will be an early release for Chenango Valley students on Monday, April 8. More information can be found here.
