On March 3, Chenango Valley Special Education Director Mrs. Tara Williams Whittaker led virtual “Warrior Learners” sessions on helping to support the needs of students with disabilities.
During the presentations for elementary and secondary teachers, Mrs. Whittaker discussed a variety of topics including eligibility classifications and specially designed instruction/special education services used to remove instructional barriers for students with disabilities. The group also discussed common special education acronyms and what they mean, such as AT (assistive technology) and BIP (behavioral intervention plan).
The goal of Warrior Learners workshops is to help provide various support and mentorship resources for Chenango Valley Central School District educators, especially those who are newer to the district.
