One District, One Book Kick-Off Assemblies

The Chenango Valley One District, One Book initiative kicked off at both elementary schools on March 1, marking the start of an engaging reading journey for our school community throughout March. The launch assemblies featured an exciting lineup, including the debut of an original "Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library" song by Mrs. Palmatier, a backpack scavenger hunt, and a special recorded reading of the first chapter by author Chris Grabenstein himself. Thanks to Mrs. Slocum and Mrs. Vaughan for their dedication and hard work in making this initiative a success! There is more fun to come!

Welcome to CV One District, One Book 2024!

We hope our Port Dickinson and Chenango Bridge Elementary families are filled with excitement for this year's Chenango Valley One District, One Book event! Throughout the month of March, we invite you to join us in reading the captivating and imaginative book Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein. This year, we had students vote for their favorite book after listening to a quick synopsis of three different books.  This year, we had students vote for their favorite book after listening to a quick synopsis of three different books. The votes were tallied and out of 778 votes, 411 (53%) of them went to Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library! Every elementary student will receive a free copy of the book and additional resources on Friday, March 1st.

Reading Schedule:
During the month of March, we encourage families to read one chapter each weeknight and three to four chapters on weekends. Don’t worry! These are short and fun chapters! There will also be recordings available via the library’s Seesaw for the weekends and when students have off on March 14th and 15th. In the library, throughout March, we will focus on the book. In addition, a chapter will be read aloud in school each school day.

Family Night:
