CV Spring Break and April 8 Early Release Reminders

March 27, 2024

Dear Chenango Valley Families,

I hope this message finds you well. With Spring Break right around the corner, I wanted to share a few quick reminders.

Spring Break: Friday, March 29 – Friday, April 5
Spring Break starts this Friday, March 29, and runs through Friday, April 5. All district offices will be closed this Friday, March 29, and offices will reopen on Monday morning, April 1. Detailed information regarding building and office hours for next week will be posted on our district website by this Thursday afternoon. Classes will resume on Monday, April 8.

Early Release Schedule for Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8
Additionally, as shared in our email communication on March 12, Chenango Valley schools will follow an early release schedule on Monday, April 8, due to the peak of the solar eclipse happening around the same time our Port Dickinson and Chenango Bridge Elementary students are normally traveling home on buses. To accommodate earlier transportation for the elementary students, our middle and high school students will also need to be dismissed earlier.

To recap the schedule for Monday, April 8:
  • CV Middle and High School students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.
  • Elementary students who walk or are picked up will be dismissed at 1:05 p.m., followed by the buses upon their arrival at the schools.
    • This dismissal schedule also applies to the AM pre-K class on Monday, April 8.
We hope students are able to enjoy this rare and fascinating event from home, wearing the appropriate solar eclipse safety viewing glasses. As a reminder, following the informative Kopernik assemblies last week, pre-K through grade 8 students will receive safety viewing glasses from their schools to take home on the day of the eclipse.

End-of-Year Planning
Lastly, we are currently reviewing our plans for the end of the school year. We aim to announce the final day of school for pre-K through grade 8 students by early May. High school students should note the full Regents Exams Week starts on Friday, June 14.

We appreciate your attention to these items and wish you and your family a restful and fun-filled Spring Break!

All the best,
Dr. Larry Dake
Superintendent of Schools
