CAD II Class Participates in Kids CAN Build Challenge

students and project

Mr. Cass's CAD II students enjoyed participating in this year's CHOW Kids CAN Build Challenge. They constructed a giant structure out of canned food, aiming not only to showcase their STEM skills but also to raise awareness and support hunger relief across our region.

With a generous donation from Weis Markets, the students artfully and precisely turned hundreds of cans of tuna, vegetables, and tomato sauce into the building blocks of their creation near the high school's auditorium. Through teamwork and dedication to making a difference, they transformed these cans into a large reusable cup, inspired by the popular "Stanley Cup." Amelia Irons led the design process, combining creativity with a commitment to sustainability and community service.

This project demonstrated the powerful impact of collective action. As part of a community-wide event, it joined various local school districts in contributing unique structures to support CHOW and raise awareness to combat hunger. All cans and proceeds from the Kids CAN Build Challenge were donated to CHOW, furthering hunger relief efforts in the area.

This initiative reminded everyone involved that even a single can of food could contribute to a larger movement of hope and community support.
