On March 3, Chenango Bridge Elementary held fun and meaningful “Enthusiastic about Empathy” presentations for each grade level, focusing on what empathy is all about. These presentations tied into the week of February 27 - March 5 Positivity Project (P2) character strength... enthusiasm!

During the presentations, students watched a clip of the song “Surface Pressure” from the movie Encanto. They then discussed that you never know what someone is going through under the surface – so it’s important to show others empathy, kindness, and compassion.

Students created acrostic poems with the letters of the word EMPATHY. They also worked in pairs to read through examples of empathy scenarios, identified the feelings portrayed in these examples, and talked about the ways that a person could empathetically respond to each scenario.

In addition, students created shamrocks with examples of empathy on them that will be put on display in the Chenango Bridge Elementary main hallway. This will be part of a display titled “We are LUCKY to have each other – Be the rainbow in someone’s cloud.” Together, the shamrocks will create a rainbow. What a great idea as St. Patrick’s Day approaches!

Thank you to all who made these presentations possible, including Chenango Bridge Elementary School Counselor Mrs. Megan Cieri and Social Worker Ms. Nicole Jefferson!
