A group of Chenango Valley High School students recently embarked on an exciting leadership journey through the Next Generation Leadership Summit hosted by SUNY Cortland.
On October 11, the students engaged in a virtual meeting with Dr. Kevin Mack, the program coordinator, to gain insights into the initiative. During this session, they learned that they would work together to decide on and complete a project aimed at positively impacting other students in their school.
On October 17, the students, along with Chenango Valley High School Principal Mrs. Jennifer Ostrander, attended the first of two workshops at SUNY Cortland's Corey Union. This event provided them with more information about the project and offered an opportunity to connect with other student groups participating in the program.
On March 13, the group attended the Next Generation Leadership Summit at SUNY Cortland to share their project, a spring carnival for the high school. They also engaged in break-out sessions focused on leadership and courage. Their efforts at the event highlighted their commitment to making a positive impact.
The Next Generation Leadership Summit focuses on creating positive change in schools and communities through the act of service. The ultimate goal of this project is to help students grow both as individuals and as active, engaged members of their community, equipping them with the tools they need today to inspire leaders of tomorrow.
