Students Share Thanks on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

On January 9, in honor of National Law Enforcement Day, each Port Dickinson Elementary class decorated a letter to spell the message "Thank you for keeping us safe." Student representatives from each class read this message and presented their letters to Sergeant Lason from the Port Dickinson Police Department to share with the rest of the department on the school's behalf. Students were excited to share their message of gratitude to thank the school's neighboring officers for all they do.

Mr. Pattwell's first-grade class also had a special guest for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Deputy Pattwell, representing the Broome County Sheriff's Office, visited the class to discuss the role of police officers, the requirements for becoming one, and to answer various questions from the students.
