Mrs. Clark's sixth-grade science classes have been thoroughly engaged in studying Earth's layers! Recently, students explored the fascinating world of the mantle, discovering its dual nature as both a solid and a liquid, depending on pressure. To illustrate this concept, students enjoyed a hands-on activity involving OOBLECK to simulate the asthenosphere, which behaves like flowing hot asphalt. This fun exercise demonstrated the characteristics of the mantle's solid and liquid sections. It helped students to understand how this layer's movement plays a role in tectonic plate movement.
