Port Dickinson Explores 'Positivity Project' Trait of ‘Love’
Port Dickinson Elementary students reviewed this week’s “Positivity Project” ("P2") character strength of “Love” with a morning assembly including some special surprises on February 10.

According to the "P2" definition, love means that “You value close relationships with others and being close to people.”

Mrs. Mercik led the assembly and helped students learn sign language to communicate love.

Next, it was revealed that it was the birthday of our Port Dickinson Elementary School Resource Officer! Officer Sine was delighted by a surprise of Port Dickinson Elementary students and educators singing happy birthday to him! Mrs. Mercik explained that this was another way to show love, which goes hand in hand with kindness.

After singing, some of our Port Dickinson elementary students helped to explain more ways that love can be demonstrated. These included saying "I love you," saying something kind, sharing a note, giving a hug or high five, cheering someone up, offering something, smiling and creating a video.

As a second surprise, Port Dickinson Elementary Warriors helped to create a video to share their gratitude with Principal Hammond for the hard work she put into making a smooth transition back to the renovated Port Dickinson building. She also received a poster from Port Dickinson Elementary faculty and staff members as another token of appreciation.
