Chenango Valley Middle School sixth grade students were saddened when they learned about the fires in Australia while studying current events in their social studies classes. In response, they wanted to find a way to help out.
After researching with their social studies teacher Mrs. Carrie Vesci, students discovered a website asking for help in making pouches, wraps and other items for orphaned or injured marsupial animals. At the end of their school day, students have been volunteering time to cut, glue and sew pouches to send to an animal rescue in Australia. Their goal is to make at least 100 pouches.
