‘Warrior Learners’ Discusses Importance of Engagement in Education
Chenango Valley educators had the opportunity to explore the topic of student/family involvement during “Warrior Learners” workshops on October 28. The sessions were held in our new Warrior Room located next to the middle school/high school library.

Chenango Valley Assistant Superintendent Michelle Feyerabend led the workshops for elementary and secondary teachers and teaching assistants. Educators reviewed topics including the importance of student involvement/engagement and the PTA National Standards for Family Engagement.

In addition, participants took part in interactive activities that included reflecting on different scenarios of home-school engagement. They also discussed ways to keep improving/building upon home-school connections to help students succeed.

At the end of each session, educators reviewed strategies such as listening with empathy and asking questions that may help lead to more positive relationships.

The objective of Warrior Learners is to help provide various support and mentorship resources for Chenango Valley Central School District teachers, especially those who are newer to the district.
