Port Dickinson Elementary students reviewed this week’s “Positivity Project” (P2) trait of “Self-Control” with a morning assembly presentation on December 16.
During the presentation, Mrs. Hoyt reviewed what self-control means. Mr. Novotny helped to demonstrate self-control by standing as still as he could in front of the whole assembly, regardless of distractions.
Students also played a “Self-Control Game." Port Dickinson Elementary students did an awesome job and were able to sit and not pop bubbles floating near them. They were even able to stand still and not sing while the song “Baby Shark” played in the gymnasium. (These were some seriously difficult tasks!)
In addition, Mrs. Hoyt gave Mr. Novotny and Mr. Hayes a challenge to help demonstrate self-control. Both physical education teachers received a delicious cookie, but the catch was that they couldn't eat them. Students are going to check up on the teachers’ self-control during their PE classes. If Mr. Novotny and Mr. Hayes don’t eat the cookies, they will each be rewarded with THREE cookies!
As the assembly ended, students were encouraged to continue mindfully practicing self-control.
