Port Dickinson Primary Project Program Receives National Certification
primary project room

Port Dickinson Elementary’s Primary Project program has received National Certification as designated by the Children’s Institute.

Primary Project helps students adjust into the classroom so that they are better able to focus on learning. The program allows children (who have been selected through observation and a specific program assessment tool) to connect one-on-one with a trained Port Dickinson Child Associate once a week for about 12-15 weeks. During these sessions, children can choose from a variety of toys and materials designed to promote expression and independence. The Child Associate does not give directions or ask questions, but does comment on the child’s play with encouraging statements.

The National Certification verifies that our Primary Project program in the Chenango Valley Central School District adheres to the evidence-based model and program standards. It also recognizes the hard work and dedicated services our faculty and staff have put into making this a beneficial program to help our young Warriors succeed in both school and life.
