Three Chenango Valley High School students recently participated in the Zone 3 Area All-State Junior High Music Festival.

Chenango Valley students Olivia Pepples (percussion), Saniah Reeves (soprano), and Fisher Sullivan (tenor) proudly represented Chenango Valley Central School District at the festival. The event took place at Ithaca High School beginning on the weekend of Friday, November 2.

Each student was selected to perform in the festival based on their audition grade from their NYSSMA solo earlier this year. Together, the students worked and performed with music teachers, conductors and students from all around the Southern Tier.

Saniah sang a solo in the gospel number “Shine on Me," as Fisher proudly sang with the choir. Olivia performed with the band on an unusual piece entitled “Old Churches,” in which the percussion plays on kitchen bowls to represent cathedral bells.

The students enjoyed spending Friday and Saturday rehearsing for the concert performance, as well as making friends with other student musicians from local districts.

The concert itself received high praise by Chenango Valley families and music educators in attendance!
