New York State Senator Fred Akshar visited Mr. Tidick’s Current Events & Local History class at Chenango Valley High School on October 26.
Senator Akshar discussed his background in law enforcement, how he became involved in politics, and the complexity of his role in government. He also answered students’ questions including topics such as his thoughts on our local economy, who has inspired him throughout his career, and why he feels that programs such as “YES Leads” and “Ag in the Classroom” are important for students.
Senator Akshar ended his discussion by telling the class to “Work hard and dream big.” He encouraged students to follow their dreams and stated, “Any of you can accomplish whatever it is that you seek to do."
