During the last few school days before Winter Break, Chenango Valley Middle and High School students had the opportunity to participate in and learn more about adaptive sports.
The company Move Along, Inc. (a chapter of Disabled Sports USA) visited Chenango Valley High School physical education classes on December 20 and was part of Chenango Valley Middle School’s Wellness Day on December 21.
The Move Along program helps to promote general awareness of adaptive sports. These are competitive or recreational sports with modifications for people with disabilities to participate. Chenango Valley students were able to try basketball, hockey and cycling with these modifications.
Students had a great time learning about the similarities to conventional able-bodied sports and experiencing the chance to find out more about the opportunities available through adaptive sports.
Thank you to Chenango Valley Middle School physical education teacher Mr. Bill Berg for helping to set up this activity.
