Fifth Grade Students Receive Special ‘Ag in the Classroom’ Visitors
Chenango Bridge Elementary fifth grade students learned more about agriculture thanks to the help of some special visitors. “Ag in the Classroom” program educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Broome County and a few-day-old calf named Daisy (from Whittaker Farms in Whitney Point) visited the school on May 29.

Students learned about the calf, including its lifestyle, anatomy and eating habits. They especially enjoyed the opportunity to pet her. In addition, students were able to make their own butter from heavy cream, and taste test it with crackers.

The “Ag in the Classroom” program is made possible at Chenango Valley Central School District thanks to the help and collaboration of New York State Senator Fred Akshar, Broome-Tioga BOCES and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County.
