CV Students Take on ‘Engineering Day’ Competitions
The clock is ticking, you’ve been given a box of miscellaneous items, and your team must work together to create a contraption that performs a chain reaction with a specific end goal. This is what Chenango Valley students experienced as they competed in “Engineering Day” events at Broome-Tioga BOCES from November 8-10.

Students in grades 3-12 put their skills to the test as they created Rube Goldberg-style machines. In essence, a Rube Goldberg machine creates a chain reaction to perform a simple task in a complicated manner.

Three Chenango Valley High School teams competed on November 8, three Chenango Valley Middle School teams competed on November 9, and three Chenango Bridge Elementary teams competed on November 10. Congratulations to the Chenango Valley High School team of Kate Hope, Maddie Trisket, Aaron Salisbury, and Donavon Tomm who placed third in their respective competition!

Innovation, creativity, and, of course, teamwork were key components of this fun competition. Chenango Valley students had a wonderful time participating!
