Chenango Valley students districtwide enjoyed participating in “The Great Kindness Challenge”! After being named a “Kindness Certified School District” last year, this was Chenango Valley’s second year participating in this initiative. This initiative goes hand in hand with the district’s implementation of the “Positivity Project” and the Community Schools program.

“The Great Kindness Challenge” includes a checklist of random acts of kindness for students and educators to complete, with the hope that they see the impact even small kind gestures can make. This year’s checklists included items that could be done social distancing in person and in a virtual classroom setting.

One of Chenango Valley’s main activities included positive messages and cards shared between Port Dickinson Elementary and Chenango Valley Middle School students as well as Chenango Bridge Elementary and Chenango Valley High School students. Chenango Bridge Elementary students also participated in the “Kindness Unites Paperchain” project. For this project, they created messages of love and hope to be combined with additional links from around the world and help set a new Guinness World Record.
