Chenango Valley Central School District hosted representatives from the BOCES New Visions program recently, offering a valuable opportunity for prospective students interested in an academically rigorous and career-focused educational experience. The event, aimed at high school students preparing for the 2025-2026 academic year, highlighted the exciting opportunities available in the fields of business, health, engineering, and law & government.
The New Visions program provides college-bound students with a unique learning experience. Participants take classes while working alongside professionals in their chosen career fields. Students not only observe but actively engage in real-life experiences, giving them an unparalleled opportunity to explore their career interests.
A distinctive feature of the New Visions program is the option for students to earn their Social Studies 12 credit through Syracuse University’s Project Advance, a college-level course that enhances their academic journey. In addition, all students take Honors English 12, which is taught in a seminar style, focusing on college preparedness and the development of critical thinking and communication skills.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 90%. The application process involves submitting an essay and participating in an interview, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Upon successful completion of the program, students earn four high school credits, positioning them for future success as they embark on their college and career pathways.
This collaboration between Chenango Valley Central School District and BOCES offers students a chance to gain valuable experience, skills, and insight into various professional fields.
