Port Dickinson Elementary Explores 'Positivity Project' Trait of ‘Prudence’
Port Dickinson Elementary students reviewed this week’s “Positivity Project” (P2) trait of “Prudence” with a morning assembly presentation on January 13.

Mrs. Mercik led the presentation and with the help of fellow educators shared the meaning of the word and how to spell it. According to the "Positivity Project" definition, prudence means that “You plan for the future and achieve your goals by making careful everyday choices.”

Mrs. Mercik also read students the book “A Chair for my Mother.” This is a story about a family that sets out to achieve a goal of buying a chair for their home.

In addition, Chenango Valley High School seniors Elizabeth Morgan, Caleb Schwarz, Danielle Jewson and Abigail Pepples visited the assembly. They each talked about goals they had set and how prudence has helped them to work towards achieving those goals.

The presentation ended with Mrs. Mercik sharing a special project with students. Each class will receive a star to write a classroom goal on. They will hang the stars outside of their rooms, so that others can see what they are working on and encourage them to reach their goals.
