CBE Student Proposes ‘Cooper’s Corner’ Library Play Area
Chenango Bridge Elementary third grade student Caleb Dancesia recently visited the Broome-Tioga BOCES Tech Academy to share a proposal for building a library play area in honor of “Super Cooper.”

With his mother Laura and sister Emma by his side, Caleb presented Tech Academy 9 students and staff his vision to create sensory tables at the Fenton Free Library. These tables help children learn and engage their senses through interaction with various materials.

Caleb’s idea was influenced by Cooper Busch (whose courageous battle with a rare form of leukemia earned him the nickname “Super Cooper”) who loved to visit the library. Caleb would like to call the play area Cooper’s Corner. His mother reached out to BOCES for assistance in making Cooper’s Corner possible, and Principal Matt Sheehan guided her to the class.

Inspired by the heartwarming presentation, including photos in memory of Cooper, the class of ninth grade students will soon begin designing and building the table, which will also contain the “Super Cooper” emblem.

Once Cooper’s Corner is completed in the library, the plan is to have a grand opening welcoming all to enjoy the new play area.
