CV Junior Donates School Supplies to Port Dickinson Elementary

Port Dickinson Elementary is where Lauren Hart, now a Chenango Valley junior, began her educational journey. It’s a place that left a lasting impact on her. Years later, she reached out to return the favor.

“I wanted to give back to a school that gave so much to me,” said Lauren. “I was new here in the community when I started at the school and it made it so much better with everything that they gave me.”

And, indeed, Lauren did give back in a big way. As part of a service project for confirmation, Lauren contacted Port Dickinson Elementary Principal Mrs. Mary Beth Hammond to check on school supply needs. Shortly before Port Dickinson pre-K through grade 2 students returned this fall, Lauren donated dozens upon dozens of school supplies such as crayons, pencils, and glue sticks.

Lauren said she started raising money in the summer and then went on a shopping trip with her father. She said that the people behind them in line were so kind as they checked out the large quantity of items, and included an administrator from a nearby school district, making the experience even more special.

Lauren said this project helped to reinforce the joy that comes in helping her community.

Mrs. Hammond said Port Dickinson Elementary is so grateful for this generous donation that has already benefitted Little Warriors.
