Eli Lanfear Signs National Letter of Intent
Congratulations to Chenango Valley High School Class of 2021 senior Eli Lanfear who signed a National Letter of Intent to participate in the men's swimming and diving program for Binghamton University! A signing event took place on March 29.

Eli was commended for his dedication, work ethic, and numerous swim accomplishments since joining the Chenango Valley Swim Program in the seventh grade. In addition, Eli was complimented on his personal character and continuous support of his teammates.

Some of Eli’s Noteworthy Accomplishments with the Chenango Valley Swim Program:
  • Eli holds school records in the 200 free, 200 individual medley, 50 free, 100 fly, 100 free, 500 free and 100 back.  He is a member of all three relay records.
  • Eli holds pool records in the 200 free, 200 individual medley, 50 free, 100 fly and 100 free. Holds all three relay pool records.
  • At the state meet in 2019, he placed 15th in the 100 free. In 2020, he became the public high school state champion in the 100 free. He was the first Chenango Valley boy swimmer to win a state title.
  • In the 2021 season, Eli is ranked number one in the state in the 50 free and 100 fly. His time of 20.40 in the 50 free makes him an All-American in that event.

Eli thanked his family, friends, teammates, and coaches who have encouraged and supported him throughout the years.

“Chenango Valley has definitely been the most influential part of my life and I definitely wouldn’t be here without it. So, thank you to everybody,” Eli stated during the signing event.

Eli said that he is excited for the academic opportunities that Binghamton University has to offer and said that he has not yet decided on a major. Chenango Valley wishes Eli the best of luck in all future endeavors!
