Thank you to Megan Decker, of the Color & Curse Salon in Endwell, for visiting Mrs. Preston's Foundations of College Math classes for a Future Fridays presentation on November 28.
Students learned various things about a career as a hairdresser such as what a typical day at the salon entails, additional opportunities that are available within the field, what traits it takes to be successful, and educational requirements.
Future Fridays introduce students to local professionals from a variety of careers. Students are able to ask them questions about their duties as well as how math can be incorporated into their responsibilities. The goal is to expose these seniors to various career paths, discover what it would take to pursue each path, and help them start a network of connections for future employment.
We look forward to more Future Fridays presentations to come with additional community partners!
