Jessie Gates Signs National Letter of Intent

Coach Wilson, of the CV High School Varsity Cross-Country team, wrote a message that was read by Mrs. Mercik commending Jessie’s determination and the example she sets for others:

“Jessie has been our girls team captain for the past two years and the vice president of running club this last year, but her leadership and commitment to the cross-country program far extends that. She is a dedicated runner and not to mention very good at it! She was ranked 11th in the class section in 2021 receiving STAC all star status and this year received central division all-star. Her personal record of a 21:37 5k shows she is a force to be reckoned with.”

He also noted, “She is always looking to better herself and compete at the highest level. It was no surprise to me that she wanted to extend this philosophy and continue at the collegiate level. The team and I couldn’t be happier that she is committed, and Flagler is gaining a phenomenal athlete. Congratulations Jessie and make your CV family proud!”
