Clean Air Act (Smoking)

It is the policy of the Board of Education to provide a smoke-free environment. In compliance with the Pro-Children Act of 1994 and Sections 1399-o and 409 of the New York State Public Health Law and Section 3020-a of the Education Law, the Board of Education recognizes that smoking represents a health and safety hazard which can have serious consequences for both the smoker and the nonsmoker.

In order to protect the students, staff and visitors to the district from an environment that may be harmful to them, the Board of Education hereby prohibits smoking on all school district grounds and in all school district buildings, buses and other vehicles owned or leased by the district.

For purposes of this policy, “smoking” will mean all uses (including but not limited to: smoking, vaping and ingesting) of tobacco or tobacco products, cannabis and marijuana products, and electronic cigarettes (including but not limited to: e-cigarettes, “Juul,” Dab Pen, Vape Box Mods, Vape Liquid, and Vapes).
