Message from Principal Ostrander 4-24-2022

Good morning CVHS Families,

I hope this weekend finds you well! I hope all families have power back on and are getting to enjoy this beautiful weather!

I have a few reminders as we enter into the last stretch of the school year.

1. The Chenango Valley Central School District invites you to attend an informative presentation “Using Strategies of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Support My Child” on Tuesday, April 26, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Presentation Overview: Dr. Tanya Pellettiere will give an overview of what cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is and how to use this research-proven treatment method in your parenting approaches to support your kids at home. CBT helps children manage tough feelings that can lead to challenging behaviors that get in the way of success. Learn strategies that can be put into practice the next day! How to Attend (In Person or via Zoom):
The presentation will be open to parents/guardians, educators, and community members. Those who wish are able to attend in person at Warrior Rooms B/C (next to the Chenango Valley Middle School/High School library). If you would prefer to participate remotely, please see the Zoom information below.

Please click the link below to join the webinar at the presentation’s start time:

I hope you can join us for this informative evening!

2. June Regents exam schedule: Click Here
The last day for all high school students (grades 9-12) will be June 14. This will be a full day for students. Regents exams (with the exception of the US History exam on June 1) will be from June 15-23. Students only need to attend those dates if they have a scheduled exam. The exams begin promptly at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. More information regarding transportation and testing logistics will be coming soon.

3. I know coming off of spring break and having inclement weather may have hindered some students from attending school. Please help your child to prioritize school by attending each day. Teachers are finalizing their curriculum and preparing students for the AP and Regents exams. It is extremely important to attend school to ensure your child is fully prepared to finish strong!

4. Senior families: We have many senior activities coming up in late May and throughout June. The senior advisor, Ms. Edwards, will be reaching out with dates and details. Please make sure your senior is in good academic standing so they can fully participate in the festivities.

5. Junior families: The Junior Class dance will be on May 20 from 7-10 p.m. in the high school gym. Students will be permitted to bring an outside guest (forms will be due in by May 16). In addition, I am trying to get more information regarding the cookie dough fundraiser. My apologies for the confusion on this. I will share once I have more information.

6. Our band and chorus spring concert will be on May 24 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. I hope you will join us for a wonderful evening of music!

I hope you all have a great week ahead! As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thank you!
Jennifer Ostrander
